so, long post that is not from the phone. (a.k.a. yay quilt!!!!)

My frequent trips to various fabric stores have resulted in a big stash of, well fabric. I've completed some short projects to hone in on the quilting skills. I've made a scarf and a laptop case with a quilted top. So, now begins my first attempt at a full blown scarf. I'm thinking about a 50in x 60in quilt. It'll be about a lap cover size.

So as you can see from my rudimentary drawings, I'm doing 5 different blocks are are 8x8.  There are going to be 6 rows of it.
Now, let the the fabric cutting begin!!!!

I got some note cards labeled according to my "master plan" so I know exactly how many and how much of each kind of fabric to cut.  For example:

So this is the C block. There are three different kinds of fabric involved, numbered 1-3. You can't see on the note cards but they are labeled C1-C3.  You might wonder why C2 and C3 are cut into strips instead of squares as indicated.  Well, as I have learned recently, it is a pain in the butt to sew little squares together. So I will just sew the strips together, and then cut the sewn strips into the indicated sized squares. It is *much* easier. Trust me.
I'm thinking about sashing the squares in a cream or very light grey color.  I have yet to decide. Sooooo.... for now, the fabrics have been cut, I will decide on the sashing and backing color soon, and onward we go with the assembly.

Long time no post... So i've been working on the doggie bed from the previous post. As you can see from the picture, it's quite deflated. I've been filling it with yarn and fabric scraps from previouse projects. Apparently I had a lot less than I thought. So it on hold as I slowly gather more scraps. In the mean time i've been working on my first quilt! Pics to follow soon.

The new project: doggie bed

So, as a thrifty crafter. I conceived this idea of making a doggie bed for my Maggie. Obviously I can't use normal cotton fabric because she'll just tear it up. Thus, I wanted to use denim. The first place I went is not my local fabric store, but my local thrift store. I ended up with a pile of dark, light, and colored denim jeans.

then I studiously deconstructed the jeans and cut them into stripes that are 6in in width. Did that mainly because it's the width of my ruler and it's easier.

i'm about to sew the stripes into the top and bottom sides of a 36x24x2 bed. Stay tuned for an update.

Blog reboost

Blog reboost!!! There has been a major lag in posts [and the number of posts in general, I guess] mainly because I have been *really* busy with school, then the bar admission, and then the job. However, recently I moved down to Bay City [from Houston] and is currently jobless. Thus, I shall be posting a lot more often than before. Also, i am expanding the purview of the blog. Instead of strictly focusing on crafts and whatnot, I'm just going to update everyone on my daily doings [it'll include a lot of crafting, trust me]. Without further ado, I am back!
